Disclosure: I feel it is only fair to let you know The Mountain was started December 1994 by Dwight “Wild Willie” Martinek. Since then the Mountain has gone through many changes, not all good. In 1997, Wild Willie, hung himself. On November 9, 2013 The Mountain suffered the first fire, which destroyed about 30 buildings; on October 17, 2015. The Mountain suffered a second fire, destroying about 60 buildings. The business owners who stayed worked on their buildings, bringing them up to code, city inspections, working on cleaning up the areas, the Mountain was trying to make a come back, then on May 14, 2015, The Mountain was devastated with a third fire, about 6 buildings were lost. The true lovers of the Mountain refuse to give up on the Mountain. We are determined to return The Mountain to its Magical feel. On April 29, 2017, Van Zandt County was hit by numerous tornadoes, the city of Canton was not damaged, but many homes in the rural areas suffered massive destruction. Please join us and support us. We love The Mountain and hope you will to. Join the prayer circle and Keep the Mountain and Canton Strong.
